Wade Hands and I finished our editorship of the Journal at the end of 2019. As a final responsibility, we edited the March 2021 special issue, "Economic Methodology and Philosophy of Economics: Past, Present, and Future," that presents 16 papers reflecting on the state of the field. It was meant to recall the earlier March 2001 special Millennium issue of the journal, edited twenty years earlier by Mark Blaug, Roger Backhouse, Kevin Hoover, and Uskali Mäki. Indeed, the questions the March 2021 issue asked contributors were essentially the same as those asked of contributors to the March 2001 issue, so readers are invited to compare two sets of papers appearing twenty years apart to judge how the field has changed and evolved. See our introduction to issue.
